If you do not have the disease called diabetes, then be happy and be sure to do all you can to prevent it. For prevention of diabetes is better than the cure. The symptoms of diabetes are many and vary. At the earliest stage, diabetes does not show any symptom. In many case, the disease is diagnosed accidentally when undergoing check-up for other complaints.

The following are only some of the many symptoms of diabetes:

Symptoms of Diabetes 1: Polyurea or Excessive Urination
This means excessive urination. This constant urination is the commonest sign and symptom of diabetes. Because of high level of sugar present in the urea, the urine tastes very sugary. If you find yourself urinating very frequently, do well to check if your urine is sugary. Do this by tasting the urea. If it is sugary, then watch out. This may not be enough proof that you have diabetes, but it may be an indication that you may suddenly develop diabetes in future.

Symptoms of Diabetes 2: Polyphagia
This refers to the excessive hunger often experienced by diabetics. This abnormal hunger is only a reaction of the body to a lack of glucose, thus starving the body cells. The diabetic patient is tempted to eat more and more. And yet, the more food the patient eats, the more the glucose level rises. And the more body weight increases.

Symptoms of Diabetes 3: Polydiosia
This is simply the dryness of the mouth which results to excessive thirst and the urge to take in liquid. Due to the high quantity of fluids lost through urine, the body experiences dryness of mouth and excessive thirst. The diabetic patient has an intense craving for water and yet is never satisfied.

Symptoms of Diabetes 4: Loss of Weight Because the cells are starved of glucose, the body begins to make use of stored fats so as to nourish the cells. When this continues for a prolonged period of time, the patients begins to lose weight.

Symptoms of Diabetes 5: Weakness and Tiredness
It is not only the fats that are used. The body also feeds on the proteins in the body, leading to general weakness and tiredness. This is a very common symptom of diabetes prevalent today.

Symptoms of Diabetes 6: Itching
Persistent itching all over the body, especially in the genital part of the body is a symptom of diabetes. This is true especially in women. If a woman persistently experiences itching in her vagina, a medical check up is advisable.

The above are few of the many diabetes symptoms and signs that should necessitate going for check up if one notices any of them. It is advisable for anyone who experiences the above to immediately go for check up and if found to diabetes, urgent treatment and management measures have taken immediately.
