The number of people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes is rising at an alarming number. This does not even include those who are at risk or have diabetes but are not aware of it. Some of the signs of diabetes are overlooked because most of us do not think that we have diabetes. It is not something that most of us want to associate ourselves with. Nonetheless, if you have the following symptoms, it is best to check with the doctor. Here we will look at some signs of Type 2 diabetes that are often overlooked.

1) Vision Problems

Diabetic people usually have vision problems. As a blood sugar level fluctuates out of normal levels, this triggers an expansion and contraction of the eye lenses and therefore cause blur vision. There are many medical conditions that cause vision problems and should be checked with a doctor as soon as possible.

2) Fatigue

Extreme fatigue is another overlooked sign of diabetes since it can be easily mistaken to be related to stress, work or family. Since Type 2 diabetics are resistant to insulin, they will still feel tired enough if they are enough insulin in the bloodstream. If extreme fatigue persists, it is a good sign of Type 2 diabetes and a check with the doctor is highly advised.

3) Yeast Infections

This is a sign that is very often overlooked. Symptoms include persistent itching of the genital area and yeast infections. If there is no history of sexually transmitted disease and the itching is very persistent, it could be a sign of Type 2 diabetes.

4) Numbing of Feet

The numbing of the feet is also known as diabetic neuropathy. This symptom usually does not occur until a few years after you have had Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes neuropathy occurs when the nerves on your body starts to get damaged to a point where the feet begins to have problems.

It is crucial to identify diabetes as early as possible. If you have the above symptoms, have a check up with the doctor. It does not harm to play safe. The earlier diabetes is diagnosed, the easier it is to avoid complications and have control over the disease.
