Inside of the Mayo Clinic operating out of Florida, research workers looking at mice have produced a possible completely new treatment technique for type 2 diabetes plus its symptoms, now inflicting above 2 hundred million people all over the world.

In type 2 diabetes, the body's cells do not react to insulin correctly, the bodily chemical that oversees glucose levels. To counteract this insulin resistance, present-day treatment ideas focus on drugs which raises insulin quantities; like injecting more insulin and also by raising the amount of insulin discharged from the pancreas. The newest research revealed that an alternate methodology could wind up being helpful pertaining to diabetic treatments, such as avoiding the breaking down of insulin as soon as it is discharged from the pancreas.

Blood insulin concentrations tend to be a balance involving the volume which is put out and also how promptly it's actually broken down. Eliminating the breaking down of one's insulin is pretty much one other way of achieving the identical goal as other present diabetic treatments.

The research workers considered this particular theory by studying mice for which "insulin-degrading enzyme" (or IDE) was eliminated genetically. IDE ordinarily chops up insulin into more compact chunks. Blood insulin quantities are partly managed for that reason.

In comparison to regular mice, each of these "IDE" mice had additional insulin, possessed lower weight, and were also much more capable of managing their blood sugar levels. They evolved into super mice with regards to their power to lower their blood sugar levels upon having food, a procedure which is actually disrupted in people suffering from diabetes.

This type of result means that medical treatments that stop the actual insulin-degrading enzyme could be very therapeutic for diabetics. The Mayo Clinic workers just recently made extra inhibitors that they are about to test out on other types of diabetic animal subjects.

The reason for looking into these super mice was originally to fully grasp if perhaps these inhibitors might be practical in treating diabetes as well as its symptoms. But, these particular mice are most likely not a great example of how the actual treatments might possibly perform. The mice turned out to be a more practical illustration of overdosing when taking an IDE inhibitor, considering that you wouldn't need to have medical treatment that curbs IDE 100 percent of the time within all of the cells for the rest of your life.

The end result of getting rid of all IDE in the mice was, in fact, so intense that scientists say it inevitably failed. Once the mice matured they slowly grew to be resistant to the excessive insulin, gained weight, and additionally lost command of their bloodstream sugar levels. This means that the old mice developed conventional type 2 diabetes.

This type of end result puzzled quite a few people. Medicines that moderately restrict IDE just simply would not be believed to bring about diabetes, but yet eradicating all of it really is too much.

The experts state this particular Mayo Clinic investigation also provides intriguing ramifications pertaining to figuring out exactly how diabetes starts. Doing away with IDE produces raised insulin levels, an ailment generally known as hyperinsulinemia. Diabetes is typically considered to bring about hyperinsulinemia, and not the complete opposite. Nevertheless, in the IDE mice, chronic hyperinsulinemia seemed to trigger diabetic issues along with its symptoms.

After they became more mature, these mice seemed to become used to the continually elevated insulin quantities by lowering the sheer number of insulin receptors in their tissues. These specific modifications made them significantly less sensitive to insulin, which is in fact the actual reason behind type 2 diabetes.

Whether these conclusions pertain to men and women is simply not apparent. These experiments, nonetheless, signify very early although interesting alternatives in treating type 2 diabetes plus its symptoms.

The news about how to cure diabetes will come as a shock to the medical Establishment. But the science is now in after years of denial. Medicine has supported low-fat eating for decades, but we realize now that it did not work:

* people just got fatter and fatter

* obesity and diabetes rates increased dramatically

* no one connected the dots to see that it's actually carbohydrates that cause diabetes

Yes, that's right! It never was cholesterol and fat, it was always carbohydrates that were doing the damage in diabetes. Let the shouts go up, the screaming and gnashing of teeth begin. How was this missed? It's because medicine works mostly by belief systems and not by facts.

What was the logic in its thinking? Bone simple: eating fat would lead to fat accumulation in the body. But... the factual biochemistry is that carbs become the fat on your body, not fat.

Are you shocked? We've all been deluded because no one took the time to understand the basics. It was known by 1950 that the body aggressively converted carbohydrates to fat.

Since 2002, new, young researchers really looked into the low-carb diet. What did they find:

* fast reduction in body weight and body fat

* dramatic stabilization and lowering of blood sugar

* reduction in the dangerous fats

* low-carb simply whipped low-fat!

The low-carb or carb-restricted diet will help diabetics dramatically improve their health. And it works fast because your metabolic systems begin to change in as little as six hours. Your body switches very quickly into a fat-burning mode and decreases its reliance on blood sugar as a source of fuel.

Metabolic Syndrome is a common health problem today. It's characterized by several major abnormalities including:

* obesity

* diabetes

* cardiovascular disease

* high blood pressure

Recent studies show that carbohydrate-restriction might sensibly be the "default" diet to be tried FIRST for patients with Metabolic Syndrome. In the case of normal weight people with this condition, carbohydrate restriction may be the only effective non-drug approach for treating it.

Now, scientists are realizing the hazards of the standard recommendations of a low-fat diet, and believe it's inconsistent with good health. The low-fat diet, if high in carbohydrates, raises blood triglycerides, lowers good HDL cholesterol, and worsens blood sugar control.

A more disastrous combination could not be conjured up by Satan himself. Learn all about low-carbohydrate nutrition and whatever you do, don't use Dr. Atkins's plan and don't do the South Beach Diet -- it's not even close to being a low-carb diet.

Diet for diabetes is simple but you need to know how to check the carbs. How do you know which foods to eat? Maybe you like rice or pasta or grains or other carb foods that require insulin to process these foods.

The amount of carbohydrates or carbohydrate (CHO) foods can I eat? Well it depends on whether you would need to lose weight, gain weight or maintain your weight.

I think the most prudent way to eat foods they like and at the same time not to put too much strain on the pancreas for insulin, spitting is to eat in moderation. Diet diet diabetes type 2 diabetes or 2 is basically the diet that I am talking about.

What I mean by moderation is using Visual technique of plate. This is a way to calculate the consumption, as well as much carbohydrate foods or carbohydrate is included with your meal.

What does Visual technique of plate. For a type 2 diabetes diet means watch your dish with the food product. If all you see is the rice, or grits or sweet foods as the top piece of the pot, then you are off base. Diabetes 2 diet contains green leafy vegetable or salad, protein food (eggs, meat, fish, cheese) and a small portion of carbohydrate vegetables or rice, pasta or any other carbohydrates.

Since I work as a nurse, I try to explain to patients that you don't have to go to extremes. Diets for diabetes no matter which culture and foods that you like and that has a great flavor. It is important to check a little carbohydrate vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, peas, potatoes) and CHO food (rice, pasta and other foods carb) at every meal. Diet for diabetes means more control over the CHO is eaten.

If you make up your mind there and want peas and carrots, then eat very small amount rice or pasta. If you eat green leafy vegetables, you can eat extra rice or pasta.

With type 2 diabetes diet, protein foods do not raise blood sugar, so you can add more fish, eggs, meat, etc with meals. As long as your cholesterol is too high (meat and eggs) and you're not a kidney patient, there should be no reason why it cannot eat protein foods. Protein foods in the diet for diabetes is that protein contains its own natural fat actually helps to curb your appetite.

Every time you eat a meal or snack, should always include a small amount of protein that has its natural fat. Protein provides its own natural fat tends to maintain stable blood sugar spike and not release immediately. That can happen if one has a piece of fruit and without proteins with it. Also, eating only a piece of fruit can make you hungrier. This is where the protein helps to curb your appetite.

I tell my patients not to drink juices unless your blood sugar is low. It is better to eat fruit and drink the juice.

As always, you should get to consult with your doctor before changing your diet.
