Hypoglycemics, when out and about, often find it difficult to eat a meal that will keep the blood sugars in balance.

Just remember when you are 'starving' or running late for lunch, a quick visit to a fast food outlet can easily offer a 1000 calorie punch from the refined carbohydrates and salad dressing.

You might not have a choice but to grab a fast food. Think while you order and choose the least damaging food. Watch portion size. For example a Taco Bell taco with salsa contains 52gsms of fat and 850 calories and a Taco Supreme with very similar ingredients contains 14 gsm fat and 210 calories. The supersize taco shell causes the problem with nearly half the calories. Also, restrain yourself with cheese and sour cream.

By remaining ignorant of the effects of fast foods on hypoglycemia you are denying yourself the opportunity of getting rid of the symptoms. Your body gets onto a rollercoaster ride of constant up and down blood sugar levels.

This over-stimulation of insulin leads to, among other things, adrenal problems. Then the familiar symptoms of hypoglycemia take hold - mood swings, dizziness and lack of concentration, which eventually lead to the more serious illnesses of diabetes, heart and kidney diseases.

Should you indulge in refined foods, always remember to eat good portions of fruit and vegetables throughout the rest of the day. This will keep your blood sugar levels from crashing.

The are a number of ways of keeping hypoglycemic symptoms to a minimum by carefully choosing from fast food menus.

At breakfast avoid the highly sugared doughnuts or chocolate chip muffins. Look for a plain bagel and fruit. Choose plain scrambled eggs and avoid high fat sausage, cheese and bacon. Especially avoid breakfast sandwiches consisting of sausage and bacon.

For lunch choose a grilled chicken sandwich or even a regular hamburger. Skip the deluxe, mayo and sauce. Definitely choose soups or salads instead of fries.

At the salad bar choose greens and vegetables while limiting potato and macaroni salad. Do not be tempted by bacon, cheese, crouton and high fat dressing.

It is important to always eat protein with refined food, since this allows a slow release of sugar. You cannot go a whole day ignoring your diet. You absolutely have to balance your low blood sugar levels so there is no point in being casual about dieting.

Even so, hypoglycemics find it difficult to remain on course over holiday periods, like New Year and Easter. Although, after a period of constant diet watching you could eat occasional treats but too much will set you back again.

A clear understanding of all the symptoms of hypoglycemia is needed. With a carefully laid out program based on your research, changes in your lifestyle and diet choices, you will go on to enjoy a carefree life and control your low blood sugar.

If you have shaky hands and feel not able to concentrate before lunch no matter if you had a snack after breakfast we can suspect you are suffering of reactive hypoglycemia you can just be in the initial phase, and this can just be an annoying crash but if not treated, this condition is just going to get worse. Here we are going to see how to stabilize your blood sugar levels to help you avoid those crashes.

Commonly hypoglycemia occurs due to adrenal fatigue, adrenal glands produce cortisol and with these not working properly we got lowered blood cortisol. The liver has to work harder to convert glycogen into blood sugar, during stress insulin levels are increased because the cells demand more energy, and without the right cortisol levels to elevate the blood sugar levels the increased demand is impossible to meet.

People suffering of adrenal fatigue when even under mild stress like an argument at work can not produce the increased demand for blood glucose as a result of the fatigued adrenals unable to cope with the cortisol needed , increasing the insulin at the same time that the demand of glucose is increasing, setting the stage for tragedy.

You can not treat diabetes low blood sugar with coffee and sweet snacks, this only throws your body into a constant roller coaster ride trough the day, at the end you just going to fell exhausted without having done anything. Is like driving with the brakes and flooring the accelerator at the same time.

More than sixty percent of people with diabetes low blood sugar go on to become diabetics!

You can be in the other side of the fence with an hypoglycemia diet while treating your adrenal glands and in less than 3 months you can improve remarkably.

There are many treatment options so far as type 2 diabetes is concerned. Indeed, it is not curing diabetes but managing diabetic condition with medicines and lifestyle. As such, you have means and ways to help keep normal blood sugar levels. However, physicians and dietitians emphasize that eating the right diet foods is the best option in managing type 2 diabetes. The objective of this article is to focus on important and good foods to eat for diabetes.

Broccoli=>

First, it should be admitted that plenty of fresh vegetables are recommended as good foods for diabetes. Choosing fresh vegetables containing rich dietary fiber can produce surprising results. Broccoli is certainly a good selection of food for type 2 diabetes. It is really a rich source of fiber as well as vitamins. That's why dietitians emphasize the inclusion of broccoli with meals and snacks as well. Broccoli contains sulphoraphane as antioxidant helping to reverse type 2 diabetes symptoms. Following this, the damage caused to delicate internal parts of the body is prevented. Specifically, the antioxidants contained in broccoli keep heart's vascular system from being damaged with fatty sugar coatings inside.

Berries=>

Berries constitute a wonderful type 2 diabetes diet as recommended by dietitians. The antioxidant constituent of berries has an exemplary value in controlling adult onset diabetes. The dietitians claim that the antioxidants, alternatively identified as polyphenols, contained in berries have an excellent role of keeping optimal blood sugar levels in the blood stream. However, they emphasize that consuming berries in excess can skyrocket the sugar levels. That is why a diabetic should be sure to gain right amount of carb intake when consuming berries in a day. Excessive amount of berries can burn extra calories in producing sudden rise of energy following a sudden fall to zero energy. That way, consuming berries is good for type 2 diabetes treatment but the things will go wrong when you fail to check right amount of intake of berries.

Green tea=>

The potential of green tea is great when the antioxidants contained in green tea leaves are considered. Though black tea also contains antioxidants, the amount of antioxidant ingredient contained in black tea is comparatively less than that contained in green tea. The benefits extended by green tea are many for type 2 diabetics. It is also claimed that the Chinese dinner is always followed by green tea conventionally back from centuries. It is not simply a stimulant but a power booster for muscles and cells.

It will be more convincing if you refer the guidelines set by American Diabetes Association on treatment of diabetes and how to prevent diabetes.

On average, you will probably be eating between 40 to 55 percent of your total daily calories in the form of carbohydrates. A 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan gets 50% of its calories from carbohydrates, 30% from fat and 20% from protein; so it would contain 600 calories from carbohydrates. That translates to 150 grams of carbohydrates, where 1 gram equals 4 calories, or just about 10 carbohydrate exchanges or choices for the day.

Keep in mind that this is an average. Some people with diabetes may find that a lower percentage of carbohydrates offers them better control.

With regards to the 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan, many people find this program constructive and effective. However, it is still recommended that you talk to your registered dietitian first before you start on any type of diet plan. A registered dietitian will work with you and help you understand the meaning and concept behind carbohydrate counting or carb counting and the diabetic exchange system. These two methods are commonly used to obtain the 1200-calorie objective.

Carb Counting

Even if you follow your meal plan to the letter, you are still going to find that certain foods will give you a bigger spike in glucose levels than expected. You may also find that other foods you expected to pump up your readings barely bump the meter. That is the individual nature of diabetes.

For this reason, carb counting is an invaluable tool in figuring out the amount of carbohydrates given in every meal and eventually helps you understand the possible effects of such amount in your blood glucose levels.

Carb counting involves calculating the grams of carbohydrate eaten in a given meal. In theory, regulating carb intake means controlling your blood glucose levels.

Match Your Diet To Your Needs How many carbohydrates you eat in a given day depends on your unique caloric, medical, and lifestyle needs. An active teenager will have a greater carbohydrate requirement than an inactive adult.

So for instance, if you want to use 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan, be sure that you fit into one of the following categories: (a) your body build is medium and you do not exercise much, (b) you are a small or medium person who wants to lose weight, or (c) you are a small person who exercises a lot.

Again, the first step in establishing a carb-counting plan to achieve your 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan is sitting down with a registered dietitian who will discuss your medical history, eating habits, lifestyle, and medication routines, and come up with a plan for how much carbohydrates you should be eating and when they should be consumed.

Choices versus Grams

There are a couple of different variations on the carb-counting theme to achieve 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan. Basic carb gram counting is simply calculating the actual grams of carbohydrates consumed and ensuring they do not exceed a pre-established limit. Another popular method is carb choice.

Since a dietary exchange of starch or fruit carbohydrates is equivalent to 15 grams of carbohydrates, many dietitians use the "15 grams per serving" value as a "rule of thumb" in teaching carb counting, especially to those patients who are already familiar with exchange lists. Each 15-gram serving is called a "carb choice," and instead of establishing a total number of carbohydrate grams for the day, you will work with your dietitian to determine a total number of carb choices.

This method works well with 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan. For example, for those who want to achieve 1200-calorie diet, it is recommended that you take 10 servings of carbohydrates in a day. These servings will be subdivided into different meals of the day.

For example, you may take 2 servings of carbohydrates at breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner provided that you do not take any carbohydrates for the evening snack. When applying carb counting, keep in mind that 1 carb choice or 1 serving is equivalent to approximately 15 grams of carbohydrates.

The choice method may not be as exact as calculating carbs strictly by the label, since it involves a certain degree of estimation, but it is close enough for most people. Talk to your dietitian about the method that works best for you.

Dietary Exchanges

Dietary exchange system has three food group types represented in the exchange lists: the carbohydrate group, the meat and meat substitutes group, and the fat group. Each list within each group contains food with a similar carbohydrate, protein, fat, and calorie content.

When you sit down with your dietitian, she will work with you to specify a certain number of each type of exchanges for your meals based on your 1200-calorie goal. Hence, you can think of dietary exchanges like trading cards. Any food on a particular list can be swapped with another on the same list.

Indeed, this 1200-calorie diabetic diet plan has soared in popularity thanks to medical media icons who have painstakingly demonstrated and explained the good effects of such diet programs. However, the jury is still out on their long-term safety. If you would want to try this type of diabetic diet plan, talk with your registered dietitian and your doctor about a safe approach that is right for you.
