Most children around the world today are having diabetes type I. However, several young adults and children being affected by diabetes type II are now starting to rise especially in America. It is greatly considered that occurrence of diabetes is the outcome of hereditary characteristics activated by environmental features like exercises and diets. Inactive lifestyle and very bad diet are the usual causes of diabetes type II among young adults and children.

The following signs can be seen in children as warnings that there is development of diabetes: thirst, loss of weight, tiredness and frequent urination. Among children, particular signs may include headaches, stomach aches and problems in behavior. Recurring pain in the stomach and history of illness that is unexplainable must be cured immediately because they are indications of diabetes.

Most children having diabetes are being referred to regional specialist on diabetes. The patients are very well taken cared of in the hospital. The only particular means of diabetes treatment in kids is through insulin. Normally a care team of diabetes will make a plan regarding insulin regimen suitable to individual behavior and necessities of a child.

Rapid-acting insulin must be administered usually at day time and slow-acting dose of insulin must be given at night. The most common treatment among children is through insulin pumps. Occasionally, in the early period after diagnosis, little kids need an extremely small dosage of insulin; however, the doses will change as children grow larger and older. Excellent control on glucose is important in managing all conditions in diabetes.

Treatment of diabetes type II in kids depends wholly on the extent of the development of the condition. It can be probably treated with a sudden change in lifestyle incorporated with exercise and healthier diets.

Parents Responsibility

Dealing with diabetic child is as difficult for the parents as just it was for the child with diabetes. There will be a lot of things that are to be considered and it includes on how the parents will take care of their child, the possible social or psychological problems which the child can experience resulting from diabetes and the cost of care for the child. Observing the blood sugar levels of the child, keeping away from low blood sugar and high blood sugars can be the biggest part of a parent who has a child with diabetes.

Parents should have awareness that their child with diabetes has certain diet restrictions; their levels of activity must be monitored and observed closely. From the start and all the way through the duration of diabetes, this disease can be a severe tension. Initially, the process of managing and treating a child with diabetes is very complicated. Parents should understand on how diabetes has affected their child so that parents can be adoptable and be patient with the process. That is very important for managing the diabetes successfully.

You're wondering if you may have diabetes.

That can be pretty scary.

Diabetes is on the rise in the US and elsewhere. Some statistics say that 50% of people over 45 may have to deal with diabetes. And it remains the leading cause of kidney failure and loss of sight in America.

The good news I can share is that there are very effective treatments to help you prevent or even turn around diabetes.

But first you have to know if you have diabetes.

Here's the quick run down of symptoms.

You'll start to notice the symptoms when your insulin isn't effective enough at helping your glucose (blood sugar) get into your cells, and it's left floating around in your blood stream.

Once the concentration gets above 180 mg/dl, the sugar will spill into your urine and here's what starts to happen:

1. You'll feel thirsty all the time and you'll need to urinate often. That's because there's so much glucose in your blood that you kidney can't handle it. The glucose spills into your urine  and draws water out of your blood. More urine in your bladder makes you pee. Less water in your water in your blood makes you thirsty.

2. Your vision will start to blur. The lens of your eye is swelling because it's taking in more water so your eye can't quite focus correctly.

3. You're really hungry. Your cells aren't taking in the glucose efficiently. So your cells can't get enough energy and you feel starved all the time, even if you're eating a lot.

4. You're over tired. Again, your cells aren't getting glucose (energy) so you're tired.

5. You may be losing weight. Your body lacks insulin or it's response to insulin. Your body is breaking down your muscle and fat trying to get more glucose. And as you know, you're just peeing the glucose away.

6. You may be getting vaginal infections (only in women). Bugs that cause vaginal infections love sugar. When your blood sugar rises, so do they.

Warning: You may have diabetes and not be showing it. That's right. The worse part is that all this could be going on in your body and you don't know it.

In a 2007 study in Diabetes Care, 6600 subjects (out of a total of 15,000) had diabetes but didn't show a symptom.

Diabetes as we all know is one of the world's number one leading cause of mortality. From time to time, many have been diagnosed with this type of disorder and it is sad to know that some are diagnosed only when it is already too late. It does not necessarily mean that when we feel we are healthy, we will no longer visit the hospital for check up. Exercising and living a healthy lifestyle is true but it is not enough. We should include in our priorities visiting the hospital and have ourselves checked up that way we will know if everything in our body is perfectly normal or is functioning well.

The problem with some people is that they are too lazy and stubborn to have themselves checked by the doctor. Sometimes, fear is what keeps them away from visiting the hospitals. Fear of hearing the diagnosis, fear of seeing needles and hospital stuff, and fear of seeing blood is the top most feared by many. How are we ever going to find out if we have a disease like diabetes if we constantly wrap ourselves in fear? As much as possible, we should take away that fear and become very alert when it comes to proper care of our bodies.

Talking back about diabetes, this disease will give us more fear if it is left untreated. Which is more fearful, suffering the different symptoms of diabetes or visiting the nearest hospital? We need to have a brief background on the different types of diabetes and its symptoms that way we will be able to evaluate ourselves if we have experienced such symptoms.

Firstly, this disease has different types. There is Type I, Type II, and Gestational diabetes. When we talk about Type I, it is an autoimmune disease. Researchers still do not understand why the body's own immune system attacks other cells in the body. This type may be acquired due to different environmental factors and viruses. If one has type I, the he needs to take insulin medications daily. Symptoms of this type usually occur over a short period of time. Symptoms include increased thirst, frequent visit to the comfort room, hunger, weight loss, blurring of vision and easy fatigability. If left untreated, it may lead to diabetic coma.

Type 2 is the most common diagnosis in any part of the world. This form is common among those who are obese, individuals at old age, history of gestational diabetes, and a family history of the disease. Symptoms include nausea, frequent urination, thirst, infections, and poor wound healing. It can be treated by having a strict diet, exercise. Insulin may be required when the disease has already progresses.

And the last which is Gestational diabetes is the one which occurs during pregnancy. This is diagnosed through undergoing oral glucose tolerance test. The obese, and those who are pregnant at an old age are at risk for developing the disease. Treatment includes dietary changes, daily exercise and self care.

If you do wish to live long, it is best that you become a health advocate and think of ways in order to keep yourself away from illnesses. Early detection will save you and give you a longer life.

You may feel afraid and puzzled when the doctor diagnoses you with diabetes. Nevertheless, as soon as you know what it is and how to deal with it, you will feel better. Notwithstanding, even if you feel fine, it is important that you take your condition seriously and immediately start your diabetes treatment.

SO WHAT IS DIABETES?

If you are diabetic, your body is unable to use insulin properly, or even incapable of making enough insulin. Insulin helps you move glucose (sugar) from your bloodstream into the cells of your body, to produce energy for its functioning. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas, without which sugar can not enter the cells and thus builds up in the bloodstream.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF DIABETES?

PRE-DIABETES

There is a condition named "pre-diabetes". People with pre-diabetes have higher than normal levels of blood sugar, though not quite as high as those with diabetes. This is a warning sign to urge one to make a lifestyle change to prevent type 2 diabetes. In the United States alone more than 50 million people have pre-diabetes, studies reveal.

TYPE 1 DIABETES

Then there is type 1 diabetes, which is an autoimmune disease. The immune system attacks the beta cells in your own pancreas, the cells that produce the insulin, and this causes the pancreas to make too little insulin or stop making it at all. This type of diabetes is more common among whites than it is among people of other races.

TYPE 2 DIABETES

Type 2 diabetes is the most common type. According to the CDC, in the United States alone more than 20 million people are affected by this condition. Type 2 diabetes occurs when your body cannot properly use the insulin that it produces itself. This condition is called insulin resistance. This usually happens when you are overweight, and body fat makes it harder to use the insulin your body produces. There may be other risk factors, including aging, physical inactivity, race, family history of type 2 diabetes, etc.

GESTATIONAL DIABETES

Another type of diabetes occurs when blood sugar levels during pregnancy are higher than pre-pregnancy levels. This is called "gestational diabetes", and its causes are not well known at the present. Some experts' opinion is that the hormones produced by the placenta interfere with the mother's capacity to use her own insulin. If this type of diabetes is not carefully controlled, the baby may be affected. Fortunately, gestational diabetes is usually caught in an early stage and the baby does not suffer any complications.

DIAGNOSIS OF THE TYPE OF DIABETES

To determine what type of diabetes a person has, there are two different tests to be used. The FPG test (fasting plasma glucose), in the first place, measures the glycemia level after fasting for an eight hour period. The other one, the OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test), measures the glycemia level after drinking a standardized drink, rich in glucose. Glycemia levels are then tested several times over a period of four hours.

Just a few years ago type 2 diabetes was referred to as "adult onset diabetes". However, an increasing number of teenagers and even children are diagnosed with this type of diabetes, as juvenile obesity increases. Type 1 diabetes used to be known as "juvenile diabetes", but every day more adults are being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Diabetes mellitus is no longer called "sugar diabetes". So you see that many old terms for diabetes are not relevant anymore.

WHAT YOU MUST DO IF YOU ARE DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES

Although being a frightening situation, receiving a diagnosis of diabetes can be, on the other hand, an excellent opportunity to adopt healthier habits and the decision to take control of your own overall well-being and choose, as soon as possible, the right diabetes treatment you need. If you are a type 1 diabetic, you will need insulin each and every day. If you have type 2 diabetes, or gestational or pre-diabetes, you probably will not need insulin.

Anyway, no matter what the type of diabetes you have, you don't need to live a miserable life, full of restrictions and sufferings. You might be able to improve your condition with the appropriate lifestyle modifications including diet, weight control, exercise and nutritional supplements.

Keeping glycemia level under control is key. Maintaining it in the correct range is the first mandatory step. Scientific studies have consistently shown that attaining this goal helps minimize the risk of complications. Strict blood sugar control drastically reduces the chances of suffering most of the diabetes-related complications: kidney, eye and nerve diseases.

A crucial issue here is the way you deal with food. Healthy eating habits can help diabetics control their weight and thus control their diabetes more easily. Among the diets for diabetics, I would recommend the low glycemic index diets (low GI diets), which help maintain body weight and blood sugar in the right levels. It is important for the diabetic to follow a heart-healthy diet, with high complex carbs content, high fiber and low fat content, to prevent hypertension and high cholesterol.

BOTTOM LINE: THE THREE FUNDAMENTAL PILLARS

People can control their type 1 diabetes with a combination of a healthy diet, frequent exercise, the appropriate nutritional supplements, and of course insulin.

People with anyone of the other types of diabetes may be able to keep their glycemia under control, and even reverse their diabetes with just diet, exercise and supplements, the three fundamental pillars of any diabetes treatment.

Diabetes occurs when the pancreas, a gland behind the stomach, does not produce enough hormone insulin. It is important to know what are the diabetes symptoms that can help identify the disease. Insulin is needed to move sugar from the blood into cells. Once inside the cells, glucose is converted into energy for immediate use or stored for the future. The energy that all our bodily functions and rids the body of waste products. This process is called metabolism.

1. During and after a meal, the body digests food in its "basic building blocks." Thus, the body breaks down carbohydrates (starch) into sugar. Glucose is the main form of sugar that the body needs for energy.
2. After the meal, glucose is absorbed into the blood.
3. The increased glucose in the blood indicates the pancreas to produce insulin, leaving the bloodstream. About 10 minutes after a meal, insulin is at its highest level.
4. Insulin helps the glucose to enter body cells. Glucose is either used immediately for energy or stored in the liver and muscles for future use.
5. About two to four hours after eating a meal, the body returns to low levels of glucose in stored blood and begins to use glucose for energy.

There are two types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is the most serious in regard to glucose. People with type 1 diabetes must take insulin daily because their bodies produce little or no insulin. The symptoms of type 1 diabetes may come on suddenly. This form of the disease is common in children and formerly called insulin-dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes, although it can occur at any age.

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of the disease, which affects 90 to 95 percent of people with diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the body is resistant to insulin action, which means you can not use insulin properly, so you can not move sugar into cells. Although the body produces some insulin, not enough to overcome this resistance. Excess weight increases insulin resistance. Therefore, as more overweight children and adults, many more are developing type 2 diabetes.

People with type 2 diabetes can often control the problem with a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and diet leading to a return to a normal body weight. Many may require medication, however. These drugs can improve insulin secretion by the pancreas and insulin resistance. Some people also need to take insulin. In type 2 diabetes, the ability of the pancreas to produce insulin worsens slowly over time. This is why changes in lifestyle may be enough, shortly after diabetes develops, but eventually the medications and even insulin may be needed to keep blood sugar under control.

Here is the list of diabetes symptoms can be a basis for determining whether you have diabetes.

The symptoms of type 1 diabetes may include:

* Increased thirst
* Increased urination
* Constant hunger
* Weight loss
* Blurred vision
* Fatigue or tiredness

The symptoms of type 2 diabetes may include:

* Frequent yeast infections
* Very slow healing of wounds or sores
* Nausea
* Fatigue or tiredness
* Increased urination
* Increased thirst
* Weight loss
* Blurred vision

Diabetes symptoms plays an important role in detecting the severity of this condition. It is very important to consult your doctor for more advice that really helps.

Diabetes can be due to very little insulin, opposition to insulin, or even both. Insulin is the hormone that is produced by the pancreas in controlling blood sugar. To understand the disease, it is very essential to comprehend the normal course of action wherein food is broken and utilized by the human body for power. Several things occur when food is assimilated; a blood sugar called glucose goes through the bloodstream. Glucose supplies the fuel in the body; the pancreas is the organ that makes insulin. The function of insulin is to carry the blood sugar from the blood into the muscles, liver and fat cells, wherein the sugar can be utilized as fuel for energy.

3 main types:

Diabetes Type 1 - is normally occurs in childhood. In this ailment, the body produces little insulin or none at all. Injection of insulin everyday is needed. The precise cause of the disease is not known. It has been considered that viruses, genetics, and autoimmune problems may cause the ailment.

Diabetes Type 2 - this type is more common compared to Type 1. Most cases of diabetes are classified Type 2 diabetes. It generally occurs during adulthood, however, young people or teenagers are gradually more being detected having the disease. The pancreas is not able to produce adequate insulin to maintain the blood sugar in normal levels frequently since the body is not able to respond well toward insulin. A lot of people suffering from Type 2 do not realize they have the disease, although the condition is a severe one. This type of ailment becomes more frequent due to the increase in the cases of obesity and failure of some people to exercise or do some physical activities.

Gestational diabetes - this type develops any moment during pregnancy in women who do not suffer from diabetes. They have elevated blood glucose during pregnancy. Women who develop the disease become susceptible to type 2 and a possibility to develop cardiovascular illnesses later on.

The following are some symptoms of high levels of blood glucose:

1) Blurry vision

2) Frequent urination

3) Excessive thirst

4) Weakness or fatigue

5) Hunger

6) Weight loss

On the other hand, since diabetes Type 2 develops gradually, several people with elevated blood sugar do not experience any symptoms.

Here are some signs of diabetes type 1:

1) Increased thirst

2) Fatigue

3) Nausea

4) Vomiting

5) Increased urination

6) Loss of weight even the person has increased appetite

Patients with diabetes type 1 generally develop signs over a little duration of time. Often times the condition is detected within urgent situation.

The following are some indications:

1) Blurred vision

2) Increased appetite

3) Frequent urination

4) Fatigue

5) Increased thirst

If you observe some of these symptoms mentioned, try to visit your doctor right away for consultation and appropriate treatment.

When we eat, our body takes the food we've ingested and breaks it down into glucose and the other nutrients it needs to survive. Naturally, our glucose levels rise after we eat. This signals the pancreas to produce more insulin. People who have diabetes can't produce insulin or can't properly use it.

But, how are you supposed to know if you aren't producing insulin? It's not like you can call down to your pancreas and say "hey, everything good in there" and it will magically call back "yep, we're good... just busy producing insulin."

The best thing you can do is know what to look for. But, keep in mind that symptoms of diabetes aren't always obvious. There aren't always red flags. Sometimes symptoms can take a really long time to develop. Sometimes there aren't any symptoms. (I know, that's not what you want to hear.) Also important to know is that just because you may have some (or all) of these symptoms doesn't mean you actually have diabetes. But, it's better to be safe than sorry, so if you have two or more symptoms, take a minute to call your doctor or an endocrinologist and talk about your concerns. The earlier diabetes is diagnosed, the greater your chances are of beating it.

Frequent Urination
The porcelain thrown has recently become your best friend? That's probably because your body doesn't like these high levels of glucose in your bloodstream. So, in an effort to flush out the excess sugar, your kidneys start working overtime. And, overworking kidneys are a sure way to keep you running for the restroom.

Increased Thirst
This probably has something to do with your frequent restroom visits. To help rid your blood of the excess glucose, your kidneys are pulling water from your bloodstream. The water helps to dilute the glucose and flush it out in your urine. But, because you are constantly losing water, you are thirstier than normal. It's your body's way of telling you it needs more H2O.

Intense Hunger
Your cells aren't getting the energy they need from your food. (Remember, the glucose can't get into the cells without insulin and your body isn't using insulin properly right now.) As a result, your body is screaming "feed me!' It just needs more energy.

Weight Gain
Your pants feeling a bit snug today? This is likely a result of the 'intense hunger' we talked about above. Intense huger = eating more food = extra calories = weight gain. Sorry.

Extreme Weight Loss
This is more noticeable in patients with Type 1 Diabetes because it has more of a sudden onset. Because your body isn't producing insulin, your cells aren't getting the nutrients they need to survive. So, your body streets to break down your muscle and fat cells to get the energy it needs. This causes you to lose weight.

Fatigue
Simply stated, your body isn't getting the energy it needs to survive.

Irritability
Most people get cranky when they are tired, hungry, thirsty and gaining weight.

Infections
The more sugar you have hanging around in your bloodstream, the harder it is for your body to heal from infections. Diabetics are more prone to suffering from frequent skin, gum, bladder and yeast infections.

Itchy Skin
We don't know for sure why, but sometimes itchy skin is a symptom of diabetes.

Unhealed Cuts
If your cuts and bruises are taking longer to heal than usual it may be a result of diabetes. Having a lot of sugar in your blood makes it harder for your body to heal itself.

On their own, these symptoms are harmless - which is probably why many people are completely clueless that they have diabetes. However, if diabetes goes untreated, it can lead to some very serious health conditions including stroke and heart disease.

Your doctor can usually tell if you have diabetes from a simple urine test. All the doctor needs to know is if there is extra sugar in your urine. Following a positive urine test, the doctor can perform a blood test to confirm the diabetes. It's not worth the risk. If you think you have some of the symptoms of diabetes, call your doctor and schedule an appointment today.

Gestational diabetes is a condition that affects pregnant women.

If you are pregnant, you should be aware of the signs of gestational diabetes so that you can seek medical attention immediately.

Although you may not have diabetes and may never have diabetes over the span of your life, you may be at risk for developing gestational diabetes.

Diabetes is a condition where you body fails to covert sugar properly.

This excess sugar builds up in the body and can be potentially fatal if left unchecked. Although this condition can be caused by genetic disposition, diet, and other outside factors, women who are pregnant are also at risk for a unique form of the disease.

Typically, when the baby is born, the diabetes will disappear and may not appear if you become pregnant with another child.

What Causes Gestational Diabetes?

Approximately one in 25 pregnant women is affected by gestational diabetes.

Typically, this type of diabetes will occur during the last three months of the pregnancy , but may potentially occur before that time.

The surge of hormones that are present while you are pregnant can completely change your body chemistry.

Furthermore, these hormones can make someone who has never had any problems converting sugars in their body suddenly unable to do so properly.

The specific hormones that are believed to be the root cause of the problem come from the placenta.

Although not all women are likely to develop gestational diabetes, you may be more at risk if you are overweight or expecting over the age of 30.

Signs Of Gestational Diabetes

The most common signs associated with gestational diabetes are extreme hunger and thirst .

Although a growling stomach is certainly no stranger to a pregnant woman, any extreme feelings may be signs of a problem.

Associated with the increased liquid intake is an increased urinary output. Again, this is a common complaint for pregnant women, but any extreme urination should be noted.

Other symptoms include blurred vision and excess weight gain.

If you believe that you are suffering from any of these symptoms, contact your obstetrician.

He or she will run a test to see whether or not you have developed gestational diabetes.

What To Do After Diagnosis

If you have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, consider reading up on the disease itself.

Education is the key to acceptance and can make a condition that seems scary very livable, at least until the birth of your child.

Typically, women with mild cases of gestational diabetes can control the condition with a proper diet that is prescribed by your physician.

Be sure to understand which foods can cause problems with the condition and avoid them if at all possible.

If you have been diagnosed with a more serious case of gestational diabetes, you may need to have daily injections of insulin and test your blood sugar regularly.

Especially with women who need to use insulin injections, the threat of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia is especially dangerous.

For this reason, carry the appropriate items, including insulin syringes and sugared candies with you at all times.

If you feel the onset of either hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia, immediately call 911 or head straight to your local hospital.

Diabetes is a condition characterized by increased amount of glucose (sugar) in blood. There 2 types of that condition - Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is more common for young people and has more rapid onset while Type 2 usually develops more gradually in older adults. Both types result in high blood sugar, however, the reasons for that outcome are different (Not enough insulin production in Type 1 and insulin resistance in Type 2).

What are the very early symptoms of diabetes? The most common one is frequent urination. When the level of glucose (sugar) in blood becomes too high, kidneys can't function properly and return glucose back in the bloodstream. This causes certain amount of sugar to remain in your urine. Glucose inhibits the absorption of water back into the system which results in too much urine being produced. This is the first symptom of diabetes - frequent urination.

With frequent urination the body loses too many fluids and as a result it is dehydrated. Dehydration results in an excessive thirst which is a second symptom of diabetes. So if you are running to the bathroom all the time and are very thirsty all the time, the chances are that you are becoming diabetic.

Those two symptoms are the same for Type 1 and Type 2.

There are other symptoms of diabetes such as unintentional weight loss and increased feeling of weakness and fatigue. Those two symptoms are caused by lack of glucose getting to the cells of the body. Without glucose cells become exhausted (fatigue) and body starts using other sources of energy such as muscles and fat (weight loss). However, those symptoms are more pronounced in Type 1. In Type 2 diabetes those changes happen rather gradually so they may go unnoticed.

If you experience all or some of those symptoms it is highly advisable that you visit a doctor to get checked up.

The early symptoms of diabetes are often taken for granted as the norm. Diabetes (type 2 specifically) is at an all time high in the United States door to a number of various factors such as environment, work habits and poor diet. It is said that todays nine-to-five lifestyle of the average American is the breeding ground for this disease. So how does one stay safe from this disease when it is so common among todays adults? The key is in early detection of the symptoms of diabetes and taking action in order to make a healthy change.

So what are the common diabetes symptoms?

The common diabeties symptoms include the following: excessive thirst, frequent urination, extreme weightloss or gain, highly increased fatigue, irritability, increased hunger, blurry vision, confusion, upon many other symptoms of diabeties. One extremely important thing to consider is that these symptoms do not mean you have diabetes, they are simply warning signs and should be used as "red flags" in order to get checked out by a medical professional. In other words, it is common for everyone to experience one or more of theses symptoms every now and then, but should not be ignored either. If these symptoms persist or come back repeatedly or if you experience more than one of these diabetes symptoms at a time, it may be time to visit the doctor to get tested.

Only a medical professional can diagnose whether or not you have diabetes through simple blood tests. The key to treatment is early detection. In addition, preventative maintenance is key to not falling victim to this disease. In addition, diabetes can be inherited through other family members. If you have a history of diabetes within your family, you may be at greater risk for this disease.

What is a proper diabetes diet?

There is a vast amount of information available on the topic of diabetes diets. As a rule of thumb, you should eat the way most medical professionals would want you to eat normally. The diabetes diet is considered quite possibly, the healthiest way to eat. Diabetics should eat small portions throughout the day, a healthy breakfast and a diet of regulated carbs as a routine. Many diabetics take cinnamon supplements as cinnomon can help regulate blood/sugar levels in the body. It is highly suggested that if you currently have diabetes, that you get involved in your own study of the disease and take part in programs that can help you cope and treat your disease.

If you don't have diabetes, but you may be at risk, there is no other time like the present to take action to ensure that you do not become afflicted with diabetes. This is your best chance at avoiding the risks associated with this disease. If you think you may be at risk, there is no time like the present to start making changes in your diet and lifestyle to avoid further declination in your health.

Studies have also shown that not getting enough sleep also contributes to your chances of getting diabetes, and those who have diabetes, it is more important than ever to get enough restful sleep every night. Sleep is highly under-rated in today's society but lack of sleep can easily cause a multitude of long-term health problems and should be taken seriously. Like sleep, exercise, even a short walk every day, can greatly increase your health and put you further away from the risks associated with diabetes.

Is there a diabetes cure?

This is a highly argued topic as the diabetes symptoms can be suppressed so much that they are almost, if not completely, undetectable. There are many programs online that use a variety of methods that can do such things. The generals are completely important; sleep, diet and exercise are key! Like mentioned before, it is highly recommended in getting in to a diabetes treatment program as to progressively attack this disease head-on.

The best thing you can do whether you have diabetes, know someone that has diabetes, or are at-risk for diabetes, is get informed, get educated and take action towards better health.

Diabetes is a disorder of metabolism. Metabolism is an internal process to convert food for energy and growth. The main types of diabetes are type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.

Diabetes affects 18.2 million people - 6.3 percent of the U.S. population. It is the leading cause of death and disability. It costs the U.S. government approximately $132 billion per year. Anybody of any age can get diabetes.

People are more prone to diabetes with a family history of diabetes and over weight. Type 2 diabetes usually affects older people, overweight and sedentary people. Type 2 diabetes is most common and is found in 90-95 percent of people.

What causes diabetes type 2?

Digestion and assimilation of food are the main processes of our digestive cycles. Blood transports the glucose throughout our body. This glucose provides energy for immediate consumption and also stores as future storage. If there is any imbalance in metabolism, glucose converted into fat and stored into fat cell.

In order to transform glucose into energy, cells require a hormone called insulin. Insulin is produced by the islets of Langerhans present in the pancreas. The pancreas produces sufficient amount of insulin, but the cells of the body cannot utilize the insulin due to some unknown reason. This inability to utilize the insulin by the cells is known as insulin insufficiency.

Over several years, the pancreas due to non-utilization of insulin stops or reduces its production of insulin. The glucose remains in the blood unutilized, and increases the level of sugar in the blood. Your cells are not getting required energy. Extra glucose is taken up by the urinary system and thrown out of the body along with urine.

Thus the main fuel of the body is thrown out while the cells desperately needing glucose, starve and become weak, causing fatigue, nausea, and vomiting besides other complex conditions like vascular degeneration, nervous tension, renal failure, diabetic retinopathy, gum infection, necrosis of cells of extremities requiring amputation, and ischemic attacks including but not limited to myocardial infarction.

Type 2 diabetes increases your risk other serious complications. Some complications of type 2 diabetes include: cardiovascular disease, retinopathy, nerve damage, and kidney problem.

Do I Have A Type 2 Diabetes Symptom?

So, how do you know if you are having type 2 diabetes symptoms? After all, almost 6 million Americans are type 2 diabetics and do not even know about it. How is that possible? What may be happening is that they associate the type 2 diabetes symptom as an illness of another kind, or they may be at the beginning stages of the disease. In case you suspect that you have a type 2 diabetes symptom, there are other things that need to be considered.

The most typical symptoms are increased thirst or hunger, weight loss, fatigue, increased urination, blurred vision and sores that do not heal by themselves.

If you are in good physical condition and have less than 45 years of age, it is quite probable that these symptoms are related to another illness. Nevertheless, if you are overweight and/or over 45 years of age, you should make an appointment with your doctor and tell him about your worries. It may be nothing, but it is better to attack type 2 diabetes symptom at the beginning.

Early detection of diabetes based on the symptoms or regular check up with Diabetes Prevention Centre can prevent further damage of your internal organs by proper medication. Research has demonstrated that people at risk for type 2 diabetes can prevent or delay developing type 2 diabetes by losing a little weight. The research results showed that moderate diet changes and exercise can delay and prevent type II diabetes

Can Elderly Men and Women Diabetics Help Their Uncertainty Of Dementia? And Can Changing The Diabetes Diet Help Reduce the Causes and Symptoms of Dementia?

Diabetes can affect the cognitive function in older men and women. In a recent issue from the Journal of Nutrition, Health And Aging (Volume 10, No. 4, 2006), researchers did reveal that postmenopausal women with markers for blood sugar that were 7% or higher, (meaning poorly controlled diabetes) had a fourfold greater peril of having mild cognitive impairment or dementia over four years compared to women with lower levels of all those markers.

Diabetics should keep their blood sugars less than 6% with the Hemoglobin A1C in order to help save conceptual dysfunction.

A possible justification for this kind of Proliferated Danger for dementia may be inflammation. People with diabetes and excessive abdominal fat may have more compounds that can cause an inflammatory response in the body.

Persons with dementia also show signs of inflammation in their brains. While it may be too soon to say that cutting inflammation will take from the Probability of dementia, you do want to consider the diet as an important part of diabetes. Cutting down on carbohydrates may lower this inflammatory response.

Diabetes and cognitive decline are well thought-out major health issues among the Older even in diabetic subjects without dementia, in cognitive domains, such as memory, attention and frontal lobe function (diabetic conceptual dysfunction).

Recent epidemiological: studies seem to suggest that diabetes heightens the exposure of vascular dementia, as well as Alzheimer's disease.

There appears to be building up evidence that indicate biological links between brain glucose metabolism and cognitive decline. Once elderly diabetics had severe conceptual dysfunction, reversing it may be much extra tricky. Therefore, diabetic cognitive decline should be well thought-out in the long-term management of hyperglycemia.

Some diabetic patients that I have come in contact with that are older patients that have decreased cognitive ability usually have a direct correlation to not having their blood sugars under control.

Diabetic patients I do see that already have conceptual dysfunction are usually put on dementia medications Namenda and/or Aricept. New drugs are always being developed to help patients with dementia or Alzheimer's whether related to diabetes or heart problems.

Good controlled blood sugar parameters are 80-120 mg/dl for FBS and 140-160 mg/dl for a Random Blood Sugar. But always consult your doctor as to what parameters he or she may suggest. Recognize it is carbohydrate foods, juice and junk foods that raise the blood sugars.

Would you believe that many of the people who have Type 2 diabetes don't realize that they have it? This is a major concern, because diabetes can lead to so many other serious health issues. It is important to understand what the symptoms of diabetes are, and to pay attention to those symptoms when they appear.

There are two symptoms that are very hard to overlook. The first is excessive thirst. It will seem that no matter how much water you drink, it is never enough. You remain thirsty. The second symptom is thought to be connected with this excessive thirst, and it is frequent urination. The logical thought pattern is that you are drinking a great deal, because you are so thirsty, so obviously you need to urinate more often. The excessive thirst, however, is not the cause of the frequent urination -- and you would still need to urinate more frequently even if you didn't have the excessive thirst.

Along with not feeling like you are getting enough to drink, you may not feel like you are getting enough to eat. Excessive hunger is also a symptom, and you may eat an entire plate of food, but still not feel satisfied. While you are eating all of this additional food, you may even find that you are losing weight, which is unusual.

Fatigue is another common symptom of diabetes. It won't matter how much rest you are getting, you will still feel tired. You will also be irritable. You might associate the irritability with feeling tired, but that isn't what is causing it. Blurry vision is also a symptom of diabetes.

These symptoms are hard to overlook, but many people fail to associate them with diabetes, because they are so closely associated with each other, in the logical sense. They think that the excessive thirst is leading to the frequent urination. They think that the fatigue is associated with the irritability. However, if you pay close enough attention to your body, and you know the symptoms of diabetes, you will know that if you experience these symptoms, you need to visit your doctor for testing.

What are the diabetes symptoms that we need to know to avoid having more serious complications? What are the things that we can do to stop the risk of having diabetes? Hyperglycemia, or high blood sugar is common among diabetics. It usually occurs when a diabetic person eats too much, and has too little insulin to regulate their blood sugar. Sometimes stress can cause diabetes. Being aware of the following symptoms and staying alert is essential:

need for frequent urination
drowsiness
nausea
extreme hunger and thirst
blurring of vision
dry, itchy skin
weight loss
dry mouth

If hyperglycemia persist for several hours and leads to dehydration, other symptoms may develop such as:

difficulty in breathing
dizziness upon standing
rapid weight loss
increased drowsiness and
confusions unconsciousness or coma

If the hyperglycemia left untreated, it can lead to a condition called ketoacidosis, also known as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) or diabetic coma. This can occur when our body has no sufficient insulin to process glucose into fuel, so the body breaks down fats to use for energy. When our body breaks down the fat, the ketones are produced as the by- products. Some of these ketones are eliminated by urine but not all. The ketones will remain in the blood when the patient is rehydrated and adequate insulin is restored. The ketones can cause nausea, headaches, fatigue, or vomiting. Ketoacidosis is a life- threatening and it need immediate treatment. The symptoms includes:

shortness of breath nausea and vomiting dry mouth breath that smells fruity stomach pain

It is very important to seek for medical care when the hyperglycemia persist for about 2 to 3 days or if the ketones appear in the urine. Generally the people with diabetes need to test their blood level at least four times a day. The urine should be test for the presence of ketones. It is very important to seek for immediate medical care for these conditions:

vomiting
confusions
sleepiness
shortness of breath
dehydration
blood sugar level that stay above 160 mg/dl for longer than a week
glucose readings higher than 300 mg/dl
the presence of ketones in the urine

It is very important to have a regular check up to avoid having this kind of condition. Knowing the diabetes symptoms is one way to decrease the incidence of death because of this.

There are two types of diabetes often termed type one and type two. You should be aware of the signs and symptoms of diabetes. Type one is juvenile onset diabetes. It is usually diagnosed in children and teens. In this case the body does not produce insulin, which is used by the body to convert sugars into energy.

The adult onset diabetes is known as type two diabetes, where in either the body has insufficient insulin or the cells in the body does not have sufficient receptors which aid insulin in its typical functions. Diabetes is a grim sickness; however with the numerous research going on this subject, diabetic persons can now live long and satisfying lives.

Symptoms for diabetes will show up if your body is not correctly processing glucose. Glucose is the result of your body breaking down the food that you eat. For glucose to be properly absorbed by your cells, the body must produce the right amount of insulin. If the body does not produce the correct amount of insulin your cells will be starved producing high glucose levels that can cause harm to your eyes, heart, and kidneys.

Some signs and symptoms of diabetes are not as obvious as you would think. Frequent urination is one sign of diabetes. Urine may have a fruity smell due to high sugar levels. Other signs and symptoms of diabetes include excessive thirst, weight loss, blurry vision, and fatigue.

A newly diagnosed diabetic needs to seek treatment. Type one diabetics, and some type two diabetics, will need to give themselves injections of insulin. Diabetics also need to be sure to have a balanced diet, and they also often need to eat on a schedule. Those diagnosed with diabetes must also be sure to exercise regularly, since exercise has been shown to help control blood sugar.

Various stores stock different types of diabetes foods. People diagnosed with diabetes have to be careful about their sugar and carbohydrates in take. As you all know carbohydrates get converted to sugars in the body. There are artificial sweeteners available today which makes it possible for diabetic people to enjoy desserts made with less sugar.

If you do not have the disease called diabetes, then be happy and be sure to do all you can to prevent it. For prevention of diabetes is better than the cure. The symptoms of diabetes are many and vary. At the earliest stage, diabetes does not show any symptom. In many case, the disease is diagnosed accidentally when undergoing check-up for other complaints.

The following are only some of the many symptoms of diabetes:

Symptoms of Diabetes 1: Polyurea or Excessive Urination
This means excessive urination. This constant urination is the commonest sign and symptom of diabetes. Because of high level of sugar present in the urea, the urine tastes very sugary. If you find yourself urinating very frequently, do well to check if your urine is sugary. Do this by tasting the urea. If it is sugary, then watch out. This may not be enough proof that you have diabetes, but it may be an indication that you may suddenly develop diabetes in future.

Symptoms of Diabetes 2: Polyphagia
This refers to the excessive hunger often experienced by diabetics. This abnormal hunger is only a reaction of the body to a lack of glucose, thus starving the body cells. The diabetic patient is tempted to eat more and more. And yet, the more food the patient eats, the more the glucose level rises. And the more body weight increases.

Symptoms of Diabetes 3: Polydiosia
This is simply the dryness of the mouth which results to excessive thirst and the urge to take in liquid. Due to the high quantity of fluids lost through urine, the body experiences dryness of mouth and excessive thirst. The diabetic patient has an intense craving for water and yet is never satisfied.

Symptoms of Diabetes 4: Loss of Weight Because the cells are starved of glucose, the body begins to make use of stored fats so as to nourish the cells. When this continues for a prolonged period of time, the patients begins to lose weight.

Symptoms of Diabetes 5: Weakness and Tiredness
It is not only the fats that are used. The body also feeds on the proteins in the body, leading to general weakness and tiredness. This is a very common symptom of diabetes prevalent today.

Symptoms of Diabetes 6: Itching
Persistent itching all over the body, especially in the genital part of the body is a symptom of diabetes. This is true especially in women. If a woman persistently experiences itching in her vagina, a medical check up is advisable.

The above are few of the many diabetes symptoms and signs that should necessitate going for check up if one notices any of them. It is advisable for anyone who experiences the above to immediately go for check up and if found to diabetes, urgent treatment and management measures have taken immediately.
