Type 2 diabetes is almost completely preventable and eating more fresh vegetables is often the advice given to diabetics at diagnosis. Although this is the age of organic eating this does not mean the fresh fruit and vegetables in your eating plan need to be organic.

It almost looks like the hippies of old have finally won, and the world is saying, "peace, love and if you don't grow it yourself you shouldn't be eating it in the first place". Needless to say, that slogan wouldn't be catchy enough for most t-shirts. But regardless, a lot of people have been completely sold on the notion of eating organic produce. But believe it or not, a lot of people don't realize a lot of things about organic food they really should. And not just because it's expensive, but also because this has an effect on your health. Seriously, when your health is at stake, you really can't know too much.

For one thing, did you know that no studies have ever shown that organic produce is any healthier, or contributes in any way to better health, than regular fresh produce? While it is more emotionally appealing to think that organic food must be better for you because they don't use chemical pesticides on it, the fact is that these pesticides are washed and cooked off before you eat them anyway. Even eating fruits off of trees where pesticides were used makes absolutely no difference, as far as the medical and scientific communities have been able to identify. That is the main reason why there is no legal definition for organic produce... and thus, there is little to no capacity to verify one way or the next.

Taking a step back, all "organic" means is that the growing methods used did not include any chemical pesticides. While chemicals such as DDT are now illegal for anyone to use, modern farmers have been using all sorts of other pesticides for well over a hundred years. And probably they are going to continue using all manner of weed killing, bug killing and whatever other types of pesticides that are necessary to make sure their crops grow up healthy enough so they can be sold at market.

There is not even a legal requirement for a food product to be called "organic" on its packaging, so there isn't even any proof (or any way to find out), of the validity of such a claim.

Whether you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes or not, there is no evidence to suggest that eating organically grown products is any healthier than eating any other freshly grown goods. While it's admirable people want to do whatever it takes to make their bodies work better, this is a little on the misguided side. Focus on eating fresh foods with low glycemic indexes and glycemic loads, and stay active.

This is a very interesting question to hear. It hearkens back to the little children who ask if they need to brush and floss all of their teeth. While the typical response by their parent may be, "just the ones you want to keep", that answer doesn't really work satisfactorily for your blood sugar levels.

However, there are issues which are related to blood sugar that you might not be able to identify quickly enough if you don't stay up on that kind of information.

Let's talk about why it's a good idea to check these levels frequently:

Hyperglycemia: You've most likely heard of hyperglycemia, which is when your blood sugar goes up too high. Did you know that this excess of sugar can cause you to fall into a coma if left untreated for long enough? Did you know that this excess of sugar can actually blind you, or even cause you to end up needing to have part of your leg amputated?

If those kinds of symptoms are not a big deal to you, then the answer to the question above is that checking your blood sugar really isn't that big of a deal. However, since most people would consider having functional eyes and limbs to be factors of good overall health, you might want to at least consider keeping up with your blood sugar levels.

Hypoglycemia: You have most likely also heard of hypoglycemia, which is when your blood sugar goes down too low. In a condition like this, you may have eaten plenty of food, but your cells are essentially starving for the glucose they need just to continue to function. Granted, no two people are going to consider the same things vital for good health. But in the case of people who want to know why they're in danger of passing out, or experiencing bad headaches and unexplained aggressive tendencies, testing one's blood sugar can be a really important step.

While nobody can tell you what to do, when you have Type 2 diabetes it is highly suggested that you check your blood sugar level on a regular basis. And while you could always cop out that "a regular basis" may be every year around your birthday, it typically means several times per day otherwise how will you know which foods are giving you problems?

While pricking your finger (the most common site used) may be an unpleasant inconvenience, it will allow you to sidestep a lot of far worse problems, which may include unexpected visits to your local hospital's emergency room. Testing does not have to hurt... pricking your skin at the side of your fingers or thumbs usually does not.

To ensure you have a healthy, long life, the best idea is to check your blood sugar levels otherwise you will have no idea whether your diabetes diet is working.

There are numerous pre diabetes symptoms, which should be detected earlier in order to prevent from diabetes. Most people are suffering from this deadly disease. The most common form of this disorder is Type 2 diabetes. They are spreading at a very high speed and mostly attacking adults while Type 1 is mostly attacking the younger people.

When our pancreas fails to produce insulin, it cause high blood sugar levels and leads to Type 1 diabetes and when our pancreas produces ineffective insulin due to old age, it leads to type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can also be a genetic problem. In order to prevent the side effects like blindness and rotting, we should try to detect them through their pre diabetes symptoms.

Can We Really Predict Diabetes Early And Prevent It?

Yes, we can easily predict this problem by looking at the pre diabetes symptoms. Most of the symptoms are similar in both Type1 and Type 2.

Feeling Thirsty: Despite of gulping down jars of water you feel thirsty. This unquenchable thirst is a regular pre diabetes symptoms.

Frequent urination: When there is too much glucose in your blood, the urination becomes more frequent. If you observe this type of change in your body then we should immediately consult a doctor. It can be considered as most vital pre diabetes symptoms after which patients need to to consult doctors immediately for further checkup as this disorder can turn into deadly disease at any moment.

Weight loss: When your pancreas stops producing insulin, your immune system gets affected. Your body constantly needs energy; the cells in your pancreas starts breaking down your muscles and eventually you lose weight. This weight loss is more noticeable in type 1 diabetes. This one of the main symptoms to detect this deadly disease.

There are other symptoms such as dry and itchy skin, blurred vision and tiredness. Your body also experiences weakness before the advent of this deadly disease because of low insulin production in your pancreas.

Each person who experiences symptoms of diabetes may experience different symptoms. One person might come down with symptoms and get diagnosed quickly. Another person's diabetes symptoms might be more subtle and that person could be misdiagnosed a few times before a correct diagnosis is made. You need to know which symptoms are almost always diabetes related. In this article we will talk about some of the major symptoms of this disease. If you or your loved ones experience any of these symptoms I urge you to see a health care provider immediately.

The most noticeable signs of each Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is that the body stops the production of insulin in the means it usually does so. Still, this is not as apparent as, say, the symptoms from the common flu. Generally, is only noticed when you meet with your doctor for another matter. When a blood or organ test is done, the lower levels of insulin can be observed. Type 1 often times gets diagnosed when a person is rather young and is usually discovered on the account of the physician trying to diagnose a bug. Are you more easily irritated and don't know why? While every one has bad moods occasionally, unexplainable irritability could be caused by issues with your blood sugar levels. If your blood sugar levels are unstable, it is a sure sign to get checked for diabetes. The reason people start becoming more irritable when they start becoming diabetic is because their body is no longer processing food correctly. So if you can't find an explanation for your mood swings, have your doctor test your for diabetes and hypoglycemia.

Do you find it difficult to concentrate? Do you suddenly faint for reasons unknown? These symptoms too may signify diabetes. Diabetes prohibits the body's ability to regulate insulin and blood sugar levels. The reason you may feel light headed or even faint is because of the fluctuation of your blood sugar levels. You need to consult your doctor if you experience these spells especially if you experience feeling drained of energy after. You may have lower than normal blood glucose. Or you could simply need insulin treatments. You should consult your doctor to figure out what is going on.

Diabetes is usually a challenge to diagnose. This is as a result of not everyone being familiar with the main signs of diabetes so they don't know what to watch out for. A good rule of thumb is if you are not acting like your usual self, it is time to get a hold of your physician.

Make sure to remember that the symptoms that are directly associated with diabetes are not usually shown outwardly. A blood test and test of your pancreas will be vital to give you a correct diagnosis. After you have the appropriate diagnosis, you'll be able to find out how to feel better and get back to a normal lifestyle.

There are many myths surrounding diabetes, and it can be hard to determine what is true and what is not. Many patients want to know if diabetes will really make them go blind. The fact is that the disease can certainly cause blindness, and is one of the top causes of blindness among adults. Equally important, however, is the realization that proper testing and eye care can often prevent the condition from occurring.

The vision problem that causes blindness in diabetics is also known as retinopathy. Retinopathy is damage to the eye due to blood flow problems. It causes decreased vision and when left untreated leads to blindness.

When your blood sugar is not well controlled, the blood vessels in the eye become weak. This leaks fluid into the part of the eye responsible for vision. Eventually the blood vessels close off, stopping blood flow to the retina. As the disease progresses, new blood vessels form. These vessels are quite fragile and bleed into the eyes causing severe vision problems and blindness.

Retinopathy occurs in approximately eight percent of patients in the first three years, with statistics rising to one quarter after five years and jumping to eighty percent after approximately fifteen years of being diagnosed with diabetes of any form. These percentages are quite large, but they do not mean that the same percentage of patients will go blind. They point instead to the reasons you should be tested annually for the problem.

When you have your vision checked annually, your eye doctor will be able to catch retinopathy in the early stages. In this stage, the condition is easily treatable. Controlling your blood sugar can also prevent the condition or help delay the onset and progression. It is very important to contact your eye doctor if you experience any vision changes including blurriness or trouble seeing clearly.

Blindness is still considered a side effect of diabetes even though it is preventable. Many patients do not have their vision tested often enough or fail to report symptoms. When you are diagnosed with diabetes, it becomes imperative that you have annual vision tests. When retinopathy is diagnosed early, it can be treated before symptoms become permanent and severe. Your vision is very important to your quality of life. If you are experiencing blurred vision or have not recently had your vision tested, seeking an eye exam is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

If you have been paying attention to the news at all, you know that diabetes is quickly becoming one of the most common ailments in the United States and many parts of Europe. Some have even said that the prevalence is reaching epidemic proportions. Why? What causes diabetes?

First of all, it is important to realize that there are two types of diabetes: Type 1 is congenital and cannot be prevented. Type 2 is not congenital, although there may be a tendency for it to run in families, and it can be prevented. Neither type of diabetes can be cured, but they can both be managed well in most people through medication and lifestyle.

With so many people now being diagnosed with diabetes, you may be wondering if you are at risk. In order to know that, it is important to know what causes diabetes. The two most significant reasons for developing type 2 are inactivity and obesity, but there are other risk factors as well, which include:

A family history of the disease. If a parent or brother or sister has type 2, you have that as a risk factor Hypertension. If you or a close family member such as a parent or sibling has high blood pressure, you are at greater risk for developing diabetes.

Being over age 45. The older you get, the more chance you have of getting diabetes.

Irregular cholesterol levels. Having too much "bad" cholesterol or too little "good" cholesterol increases your risk of diabetes.

Insulin resistance. If your doctor has determined that you are insulin-resistant, that is often seen as a precursor to diabetes. Some doctors even call this "pre-diabetes."

Developing gestational diabetes. It is by definition temporary; that is, it occurs only during pregnancy and goes away after delivery of the baby. But, having gestational diabetes increases the risk of getting type 2 diabetes later on.

My family is full of diabetics so I am always on the lookout for new information about treating diabetes. While searching the Web I had many times come across a natural diabetes treatment and I wouldn't even waste my time reading about that.

In my mind I envisioned "natural treatment" being a healer making me drink some kind of a potion or dancing around me sprinkling dust while mumbling in a language that I did not understand. That sort of a treatment just did not appeal to me.

Then one day I was surfing the Internet again looking for information on diabetes when I came across the natural diabetes treatment again. I do not know if it was out of curiosity, boredom or both, but I actually read it and was I surprised. Natural healing is not at all what I thought it was. This stuff was actually making sense to me.

After finding out what natural treatment for diabetes really was, I felt kind of foolish. Treating disorders and diseases the natural way has been done for hundreds of years. It works by focusing on natural remedies and the body's ability to heal and maintain itself. Who knew?

Natural treatment for diabetes mainly consists of eating the right foods and staying away from bad foods, making sure that you stay active by getting enough exercise and making some lifestyle changes. I could not believe what I was reading. No dancing men, no weird potions and I understood every word of it.

If you are having trouble controlling your diabetes, are a borderline diabetic or want to find out how you can balance your blood sugar, you should really find out for yourself about a natural diabetic treatment. You will be pleasantly surprised at how easy and effective this method really is for treating diabetes, minus the dancing men.

Being diagnosed with any type of Diabetes can be devastating. The lifestyle and behavior changes that are necessary to safely manage this disease can be extremely difficult for many new diabetics to cope with. Often, newly diagnosed diabetics will frantically search out cures, treatments, or ways to reverse their condition. This article will explore some of the most commonly found "cures" and attempt to shed some light on these medically controversial claims.

Diet

Diet changes are often the first thing you'll find when searching for a Diabetes cures. There are diets marketed specifically for Diabetics that promise to reverse the damage and cure the disease simply by changing ones eating habits. While it may be true that dietary adjustments during the pre-Diabetic phase can have miraculous effects on symptom reduction and possibly even prevention of Diabetes-onset, once one has developed a diagnosable form of Diabetes simple diet changes will not reverse the disease. Diet is one of the primary means by which diabetics can control their blood sugar and reduce the medication required to maintain their health but it has not been medically proven to cure Diabetes. There is a huge difference between symptom disappearance and curing the actual ailment causing the disease and so far there hasn't been a diet proven to be a real cure for Diabetes.

Hydration

Another common claim is that by staying hydrated you can nudge your body into a natural state of healing through cell replacement. Staying hydrated is recommended to anyone, not just diabetics. By staying hydrated, you will feel more alert, less nauseous, you will sleep better, your bathroom breaks will be more regular, and your body will simply feel better. These are often mistaken for Diabetes symptom reduction when in fact they are simply a reduction of dehydration symptoms. The simple truth is that levels of hydration will only effect cell replacement in the body at the extreme end of dehydration. So whether you're fully hydrated, slightly dehydrated, or somewhere in between, your body will be replacing cells at the same rate. Staying hydrated is always good medical advice, but it will not provide a Diabetes reversal as many websites claim.

Weight Loss

Losing weight through diet and exercise is actually one method that has been shown to reverse Diabetes at least somewhat. The main causes of Diabetes are poor diets and sedentary lifestyles so it does make good medical sense that reversing these causes may also reverse the disease. Bringing your body back into proper shape will raise the efficiency of all systems and allow your body to process sugar and other nutrients in a more natural way. The combination of losing weight and improved diet have been shown to provide diabetics with an ability to manage their blood sugar more naturally through decreased insulin sensitivity. This eliminates the need for regular usage of medications to manage the disease.

Herbal Remedies

There are many websites claiming to have herbal remedies for almost every disease known to humans, including Diabetes. While there are some herbs that have been shown to lessen symptoms and assist in blood-sugar control, there still isn't a "magic bullet" herb that will cure the disease and heal the damage to a diabetic's body. Professional medical advice should be sought before taking any medicine, especially herbal medicines. If you are already taking medicines or insulin to manage Diabetes, the addition of an herbal medicine could have unforseen side effects which can be potentially very serious. Herbal remedies should be thoroughly researched and scrutinized before one believes the label or the marketing slogan that is attempting to sell them.

Conclusion

The natural reaction to a Diabetes diagnosis is - "What can I do to fix it?". The answer is - begin by managing the disease and lessening the symptoms through improved diet and daily exercise. These are the only proven methods for reducing symptoms and maintenance requirements of Diabetes. Fad diets can help to reduce symptoms but an actual cure for Diabetes goes beyond the food you eat. Hydration will help with symptom reduction but will not result in reversing Diabetes. Herbal remedies can have positive effects on symptoms but there is still no herbal cure discovered that will totally cure Diabetes. True reversal of Diabetes is not possible in the short term however there are controversial studies showing a glimmer of hope for a long term cure or reversal.
