Diabetes Mellitus is a condition that a countless number of young children, teens and adults all around the world suffer from on a daily basis, and unfortunately there is no known cure for this frustrating disease. Generally the very first signs that a person will experience that is suffering from Type 1 of this form of diabetes will initially experience the first symptoms while they are either in their young childhood years or sometimes even during the adolescent years. This condition can also begin when a person has become an adult, but it is much more common to begin when a person is still a child. With this form of diabetes a person's ability to produce insulin is non-existent because their own body will destroy the beta cells that are produced in the pancreas, which results in a reduction of the body's natural insulin production.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is the form of this condition that will generally begin when a person is in their adult years, and it is a condition that is directly related to individuals that are obese. Because of this fact people who suffer from this form of diabetes can greatly reduce the symptoms that they may experience simply by taking the extra effort that may be needed to lose excess weight. Even though it has been known to occur in adolescents and children that are obese it is a condition that is much more likely to occur in adults. Possibly because of the addiction that a large number of people have to the conveniences that are provided in the numerous fast food restaurants available today and the ease with which these foods can be purchased, may very well be a contributor to the fact that obesity and this type of diabetes in children is increasingly on the rise. Diabetes Mellitus results with persistent blood sugar levels that are continuously high, and this is caused when the body's ability to secrete insulin is defective.

Fortunately with both forms of diabetes can be controlled very successfully. Individuals with Type 1 will simply have to take injections that provide their body with the required amount of insulin that is needed. Individuals that have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, it can generally control it successfully with the help of oral prescription medication, eating a good balanced diet, an adequate amount of exercise, and taking extra efforts to lose excess weight.
