Before I can answer above question, I must first briefly explain the definition of disease and symptom. Disease is a disordered organ or system of the body resulting from the effects of external environmental or internal development errors. Symptom is any phenomenon or sign accompanying something and serving as evidence or indication of it.

Diabetes Type 2 can be a disease or symptom, depending on which level you are looking at the problem. This difference of perspective can determine whether your diabetic problem can be cured or not.

Conventionally, diabetes is perceived as a degenerative disease in which the function or structure of the tissues or organs (pancreas and liver) that is responsible in regulating the sugar content in the body progressively deteriorate over time. It is mainly due to lifestyle choices such as exercise and diet.

As with any other diseases, be it degenerative or infectious, diabetes is usually treated with all sorts of drugs or medicines. This approach has been practiced since the advent of modern medicine and it is still the mainstream and almost compulsory way of treating diabetes patients.

But there is one big puzzle all those conventional diabetes drugs or treatments which it is contradictory and confusing. Look at our medical 'industry', more and more hospitals are being built, new drugs are created by Big Pharmas every other months or so, the cost of medical bills is growing like a balloon. But the number of diabetes patients not only does not decrease, but it is growing with the industry!

Do not look at the official statistic result that is published by the research institutions which are indirectly funded by Big Pharmas. Observe with your own eyes and ears, try talk to the people you know to find how many of them are suffering from hyperglysemia and ask them how effective are those diabetes drugs they are depending on.

That is the problem when they are treating diabetes (especially Type 2) as a disease. It is like building a never ending vicious cycle that ensure steady stream of income for the Big Pharmas listed in Fortune 500.

If you start to look at the problem of diabetes or hyperglysemia as symptom instead of disease, you will realize the problem is not as complicated as it seems to be. Diabetes is actually one of the symptoms or warning signs that tells you the internal body environment has changed. You should focus on reversing the internal body environment instead of wasting your time, money and life trying all sorts of drugs which could be not much better than a placebo. Deal with the root, not the symptoms!
