Our bodies require insulin to convert sugar into energy. Sure metabolic and pancreatic disorders interfere with insulin production, resulting in diabetes. The symptoms of diabetes include excessive urination, dehydration, and fatigue. Depending on the type of diabetes you've, it is possible to use natural cure for diabetes.

When Type 2 diabetes is present, insulin production may be insufficient or the tissues will be resistant to insulin. Not all diabetics wish extra insulin if they can manage their blood sugar levels through a combination of proper diet and regular exercise. Sure herbs, vitamins and minerals can be helpful in keeping blood sugar levels at ordinary ranges.

Diabetes if not treated can damage the eyes, nervous system, blood vessels, heart and other organs. It is unfortunate that several people do not realize they have this deadly disease till late stage symptoms appear. Even but there is no cure for diabetes, it can be controlled by diet and exercise.

The causes of diabetes vary and include heredity, improper dietary habits, obesity, stress, and sedentary lifestyles. The medications used to cure the condition frequently cause severe side effects, such as instability, fatigue, dizziness, and skin disorders. Because of the troubling side effects, people are often reluctant to employ these medications for prolonged periods of time.

A growing number of diabetics choose to use a natural cure for diabetes. There are natural herbs and homeopathic preparations freely available. Herbal remedies are usually harmless and do not present negative side effects. However, if you're on any kind of medication, you's got to speak with your health practitioner prior to commencing any course of treatment other than that prescribed by your gp.

Symptoms of diabetes can be eased with plenty of readily available herbs. One of the most popular is fenugreek which acts to keep blood sugar levels stabilized and helps with glucose tolerance. It also helps with glucose excretion. For improving blood circulation, cayenne is a good choice and can be taken in capsule form. Dandelion can help improve liver function. Herbs including Chromium GTF, chromium picolinate and herb-based multi-vitamins are helpful as well.

An Asian vegetable known as bitter melon, bitter gourd or karela is a freely used natural treatment for diabetes. You can cook this vegetable as a side dish or take a tablespoonful of the juice each day to help lower blood sugar levels. This vegetable is available in Asian markets or you can sometimes discover it in well-being food stores as a tea. Cinnamon is another manner to use a natural cure for diabetes that looks rather promising. One thing to keep in mind but is that high doses of cinnamon can be dangerous for those with liver problems and can be interact adversely with blood thinning medications.

While new treatments for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are being developed all the time, none of these have withstood the ultimate test - of time.

Treatments offered for diabetes are dependent on a number of factors:

o The type of diabetes diagnosed

o The length of time an individual has been diabetic

o In the case of women - pregnancy

o Whether insulin has already been used in significant amounts, to treat the condition

Type 1 diabetes sufferers have only one treatment at the time, the injection of insulin. In type 1 a diabetic who do not take the insulin they need and who allow high levels of glucose to build up in their blood, risk their lives.

Insulin is still usually injected into the subcutaneous fat layer of the skin, implantable insulin pumps are now available, from where it is absorbed into the blood stream for immediate use. However, research is ongoing to try alternative treatment forms and ways of delivering the insulin to the body, one of them is the the delivery of insulin through inhalation. The insulin is prepared in a dry micro fine powder form which is inhaled directly into the lungs from where it is absorbed into the blood stream, but this nor any form, as yet, widely available.

Type 2 diabetes is different. Type 2 usually develops in older individuals and there appears to be a correlation between obesity, and there is a great increase in developement of type 2 in younger childeren who are obese and who don't exercise. This connection gives the first clue to the simplest form of treatment for type 2 diabetes - diet and exercise.

Type 2 diabetics may find that the only treatment required to control their diabetes is a change in their diet and increase the amount of exercise in their lives. This is more likely if the diabetes is diagnosed at an early stage before insulin levels have dropped too dramatically or tissue has become too resistant to insulin uptake.

When diet and lifestyle changes alone are not enough to control the diabetes, medication will needed. This is often in pill form and is sometimes in a combination of pills. There are basically two kinds of by-mouth medication - those that stimulate the pancreas to produce and release more insulin and those that block or inhibit the release and absorption of glucose into the blood stream. It is important that these drugs are taken exactly as advised - with the instructions often differing between types and brands.

As with all health conditions in the twenty first century, there are an increasing number of alternative and complementary therapies now being promoted which, while interesting, need to be approached with caution.

One of the new treatments now being made available is a drug based on the saliva of a venomous lizard - the Gila Monster. The drug containing this new treatment is delivered by injection in much the same way as insulin but early trials have seen many participants withdraw because of an increase in side effects when compared to those caused by insulin. All research so far undertaken has been sponsored by the pharmaceutical company that produces this drug.

In 2005 researchers reported some success in treating patients with type 1 diabetes with an antibody called ChAglyCD3 that appears to preserve some of the valuable beta cells within the pancreas to permit some insulin production and release. Treatment with this antibody slows the progression of the autoimmune response and the associated destruction of the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. As with all treatments side effects have been reported and the treatment has yet to be proven as safe.

Genetic research continues into the causes of diabetes with some researchers claiming success in identifying the gene responsible for the development of type 2 diabetes. Geneticists hope that further research will assist diabetics through the development of the following possible treatments:

A diabetes vaccine. Experiments are already being carried out on animals to test a vaccination against the autoimmune response that causes type 1 diabetes.

Scientists have already used genetic engineering to make liver cells that produce insulin. Unfortunately, although insulin is produced there is no internal control mechanism as there is with the pancreas, so the insulin levels from such cells remains constant regardless of the body's requirement for this hormone.

There is an enormous amount of research into the therapeutic use of stem cells. Stem cells are the very basic building blocks of the human body and have the ability to develop into any kind of cell.

It is possible that researchers will find a way to use stem cells to make insulin producing cells to replace those that have been damaged by the autoimmune problem that causes type 1 diabetes.

As with the other treatments, these need much more research.

All new treatments offer hope for the future but the effectiveness of any of them will not be fully appreciated until they have been tested over time.

Of course one of the best treatments remains eduction, To that end, there are numerous sources for you to get the information you need about the disease, how to treat it, and any other questions that you may have.

The National Diabetes Education Program is a great example of a place to get accurate information about this disease.

Located online at http://www.ndep.nih.gov, this institute represents a coalition of public and private organizations, partnered with the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This site is a great resource for learning about diabetes and what it means to your health. That being said, here is some basic information regarding diabetes.

Whatever may be the basic factors underlining the instance of diabetes, it is due to an uncontrolled blood sugar. Global researches on what causes diabetes have proven that the prime factor is the fluctuations of blood glucose levels in the blood stream. If untreated properly, the diabetes complications may edge in many risks like heart failure, kidney damage, nerve damage, and vision loss. If then, what is the ultimate resort to overcome diabetes and the related problems? Here we shall take for discussion the alternative method of diabetes cure with Pranayama.

Bhastrika Pranayama, otherwise known as Bellows Breath, is a simple method of Pranayama. For this, you are to sit on a chair or on a mattress on the ground in a comfortable posture as you feel convenient. However, keeping your spine straight with crossed legs is emphasized. Also, care should be taken that your neck is kept slightly bent forward in such a way to align the spine and back of the head comfortably. This posture helps you to oxegenerating your blood circulation. That way, the body metabolism is regenerated to help control of blood sugar. You can adjust your breath so that you are inhaling air for one second and exhaling for another one second consecutively.

This you can repeat with some force and willful effort in order that you are inhaling air into your lungs slowly and exhaling the carbon dioxide from the lungs. This two stroke process is continued for about ten times at a time. If it is counted as one round, you are to repeat at least 3 rounds at the beginning which may be increased to 5 to 10 rounds subsequently in a day for complete diabetes cure. It is possible that you just try and reverse diabetes even if you are insulin dependent diabetic. Ok? Just move on to start Pranayama diabetes cure without pain or pills.

In February of 2008 the NHLBI announced that the Action to Control Cardiovascular Risk in Diabetes (ACCORD) study would be stopped because of an increased risk of death in patients on intensive glucose lowering treatment regimens. 10,251 patients with Type 2 diabetes were being treated with a range of medications for glucose control and were divided into intensive versus standard glucose lowering groups.

There were 257 deaths in the group receiving intensive treatment to lower HbA1C (a marker of elevated blood glucose levels) to below 6% compared to 203 deaths in the standard treatment group (HbA1C 7-7.9%). Deaths included sudden death and cardiovascular causes. Reactions from medical experts included "surprise" and "shock", and yet this should not have come as any surprise since the fact that glitazone medications used for diabetes, including Avandia (rosiglitazone) and Actos (pioglitazone) carry a cardiovascular risk was previously known. For example, last year an article in the New England Journal of Medicine showed that Avandia (rosiglitazone) increased heart attack risk by 43%. These drugs also cause fluid retention which increases the risk of heart failure. For instance, in the A Diabetes Outcome Progression Trial (ADOPT) 4360 patients with poorly controlled Type-2 diabetes were randomly assigned to four years of treatment with rosiglitazone, metformin, or glyburide. Rosiglitazone caused more heart failure than glyburide, and was associated with more weight gain (+4.8 kg-convert to pounds, v -2.9 kg for metformin) and fluid build up or edema (probable cause of the heart failure). 22 rosiglitazone patients developed heart failure, compared to 19 with metformin and 9 with glyburide.

In the PROspective pioglitAzone Clinical Trial in macroVascular Events (PROactive) Study, 5238 patients with Type-2 diabetes and evidence of vascular disease were randomly assigned to treatment with pioglitazone or placebo to be taken with their typical treatment regimen. There was no signficant difference in the primary outcome of any vascular event; 281 patients on pioglitazone developed heart failure compared to 198 on placebo, a 42% increase which was highly statistically significant. Most people don't know that glitazones cause weight gain and actually create new fat cells, making you more "fatty'. So in other words, they are promoting the thing that causes Type 2 diabetes in most people (i.e. weight gain), and causing the thing that we are trying to prevent by treating diabetes (i.e. heart attacks and heart failure). Not a very good deal.

Overall the older drugs for diabetes like glyburide are probably safer than the new drugs and cost much less. Diet and exercise are always the best way to prevent the development of Type 2 diabetes.

When a person is diagnosed with pre diabetes or type 2 diabetes a state of impending doom arises. New research has shown that this doesn't always have to be the case. Until now, the consensus of health professionals has been, once you have diabetes, you have it for life. For many, this statement is true. The majority of Diabetics are willing to live with their condition seeing no other alternatives. A growing minority are trying non-traditional medicine and are experienced some impressive results on the road to a new cure for diabetes

Recent case studies, indicate that reversing diabetes has been achieved on numerous occasions, and with other cases, diabetes has been reduced to a very manageable state with a specific diet and exercise.

Pre-Diabetes and diabetes are growing at alarming rates in North America. Until recently, Doctors have been struggling to find the root cause for diabetes. Recent studies on the relationship between the North American diet, and it's effects on the body, in particular the pancreas have uncovered a new focus for treatment of diabetes. Individual case studies have uncovered new treatments using diet. Participants have claimed to have experienced gradual restoration of insulin production. Participants have gone as far as claiming to have re-gained normal blood sugar readings. A strictly adhered to dietary program is said to be the key to rejuvenating the pancreas and resulting in a new cure for diabetes. This new technology has documented testimonials stating complete reversals of not only pre diabetes, but also type 2 diabetes.

Tests have had encouraging results when focusing on eliminating acids; quick release carbohydrates, excess fats, and uric acid which are all found in our every day diets. By eliminating excess acid production, the pancreas has the relief needed to start the recovery process. The program developer, claims that the body is designed to naturally try and heal it's self, and If given the proper tools to eliminate the conditions in which our body has come to the point of impairment, encouraging results have been shown.

Health experts go on to claim, if acid production can effectively be controlled, then the overloading of the pancreas will stop. This will give the pancreas a break from constantly trying to absorb and neutralize the overflow of acids that the stomach can't effectively deal with. The pancreas will then gradually start to regenerate. The pancreas will then start to rebuild beta cells, critical to the pancreas's ability to produce insulin. Beta cell re-generation is what gives the pancreas the capability to perform the function it was originally intended for, producing insulin, not processing acids!

The latest information states, that once you understand that treating the pancreas and not the disease should be the main focal point, it then becomes more realistic on achieving a new cure for diabetes. The program creator claims, that the exact dietary needs must be adhered to. This is the key to allowing the pancreas the necessary break it needs to repair and engage in it's natural function, insulin production.

Before diving into different diabetes treatments for types 1 and 2 here is a brief introduction to diabetes. The hormone insulin helps the body utilize blood sugar, also known as glucose, and use this glucose for energy. The food that you eat is broken down by your body, all the fats, proteins and carbohydrates are broken down to use as energy. When the body is processing or digesting the food you have eaten, the carbohydrates which were consumed are broken down by the body into glucose. Once this glucose has been broken down, it will be absorbed directly into your bloodstream. It is at this point that the insulin in your body has the task of absorbing whatever glucose is resent in your blood, which will allow it to be utilized as an energy source.

When healthy, the pancreas will regularly release a supply of insulin directly into the bloodstream. Right after eating a meal, the glucose levels in your blood will rise which will cause your pancreas to respond to this rise in the glucose level by releasing additional insulin in order to move the glucose effectively into the cells of your body. Insulin will essentially unlock the cells in order for them to be able to accept the glucose in your bloodstream.

Type I Diabetes

Any person who has Type I diabetes will have a pancreas which is producing insufficient amounts of insulin, or no insulin at all. Without insulin, the levels of blood glucose will rise. This happens because without the insulin in the bloodstream, there is nothing to unlock the cells in your body, so they will have no way to accept the necessary glucose. This will result in the glucose staying in the bloodstream with nowhere to go which will cause the glucose levels to continue rising.

A person who has diabetes type 1 will need a diabetes treatment plan that requires maintaining healthy levels of glucose. This is necessary because when glucose levels get too high it will lead to many very severe health complications in time. On the opposite end of the scale is when glucose levels become too low, when this happens a person who has Type I diabetes begins to feel dizzy, or too hot or cold. If not corrected quickly, blood sugar levels can drop extremely low and the person who has Type I diabetes can lose consciousness.

To treat a person who has Type I diabetes effectively, their doctor will need to prescribe insulin with specific doses which will need to be taken regularly throughout the day. The person who has Type I diabetes will also need to change their diet. In fact, the ones who make drastic changes in their diets as well as incorporating regular exercise into their individual treatment plan will greatly reduce the required amount of insulin necessary for maintaining a healthy body and proper glucose levels.

Type II Diabetes

As with Type I diabetes, diabetes type 2 is the result of the inability of the body to produce sufficient insulin. However, the thing that sets type II diabetes apart from type I diabetes is the fact that the body has actually become resistant to any insulin which is being produced. The person who has type II diabetes will have insulin receptors which are less sensitive. There is insulin being produced by the pancreas, so there is insulin present inside the body of the person who has type II diabetes, however, the insulin which is being produced is considerably less than what is actually needed by the body.

Just as in type I diabetes, if the glucose can not enter the body's cells, blood sugar levels will continue to rise creating severe health problems. Not keeping proper glucose levels within the body maintained will eventually lead to complications such as heart attack, blindness, stroke, nerve damage, and kidney failure. The treatment plan for the type II diabetic will require taking a specific dosage of insulin which is prescribed by a doctor, maintaining a healthy diet, and getting plenty of regular physical activity.

Diabetes Treatment

As a way of combating the body's shortage of insulin for the type 1 or type 2 diabetic, necessary insulin will need to either be taken orally or injected, as prescribed by their doctor. It is absolutely essential that the insulin be administered using a manner that will mimic the natural secretion that the pancreas would produce. Since each person has a very different lifestyle and different lifestyle pattern, a doctor will prescribe the use of insulin according to each individual person.

Insulin is available in many different forms which can range from the long lasting to the brief, but intense. This is the reason your doctor may recommend a combination or mixture of insulin to be used. For example, the patient may use a dose of the intermediate acting insulin first thing in the morning and again in the evening, but may also need a type of insulin that is short acting, which can absorb more quickly, immediately before they consume a meal.

Whatever form, or forms of insulin that are used, the FDA has three methods approved for administration. Here are listed the three different approved methods for administering insulin:

An Insulin Pen that is Pre-Filled

This pre-filled pen comes with the insulin already loaded and is one of the most common methods for insulin delivery. This device is the size of a pen and holds the pre-filled insulin cartridge which will administer the insulin by injection. The needle penetrates right beneath the surface of the skin and releases the insulin directly into the body of the diabetic.

Insulin pens are either disposable or non-disposable. The non-disposable type of pen has both replacement cartridges and needles which can be ordered from a pharmacist. This pre-filled insulin pen can be a great way to administer insulin, however, many people just do not like the idea of taking an injection and so, prefer to use the insulin pump instead.

Insulin Pump

The insulin pump is another one of the FDA approved methods for administering insulin. This device is about the size of the typical small cell phone. The insulin pump was designed to be worn or carried on the outside of your body. It has a tube and this tube is inserted directly into the abdomen of the user. The insulin pump then dispenses insulin, in a pre-programmed amount, right into the body of the diabetic.

Inhaled Insulin

The inhaled insulin comprises the most recent form of administering insulin approved by the FDA. With this kind of pump, a person with either type I or II diabetes can simply inhale the insulin through a special device that looks similar to the inhaler used by someone with asthma.

Inhaled insulin is packaged in individual packs, and then the content of one of the packs is inserted into an inhaled insulin pump. This is a very fast acting method because the insulin can be immediately absorbed into the body of the diabetic. However, this method for administering insulin is considered very short acting. This method is generally used in conjunction with either one of the methods of administration mentioned previously.

The people who have the greatest success in both treating their particular diabetes, and in being able to drastically reduce their intake need for insulin, have usually adopted totally different lifestyles, as well as having completely eliminated certain foods which are not appropriate for their diets. This has been a major focus in their overall treatment plan for their diabetes, and they are taking it very seriously. Then there are those who are using insulin therapy, but are still suffering with complications, mainly because they have not taken the initiative to change their diet, and they have not incorporated regular exercise in their lifestyle.

Treating diabetes with insulin therapy is considered vital for survival for those who have this disease. The best way to manage diabetes is by incorporating a diet as well as lifestyle change, together with insulin therapy. This combination is the most effective diabetes treatment method and will yield the most promising results.
