Diabetes is a progressive disease; it can become fatal if untreated. It is a condition that affects the blood stream and consequently the organs. There are two types of diabetic conditions, Type 1 and Type 2. In this article, we shall discuss about Type 2 diabetes, its causes, symptoms and treatment.



Type 2



Under this condition, the cells of your body fail to use insulin properly. They become insulin resistant. As a result, your body is not in a position to break down glucose into energy. Inability to break down glucose into energy leads to rise in the level of blood sugar. High blood sugar causes symptoms like frequent urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger.



Causes of Diabetes



Lifestyle: Poor eating habits, smoking, and drinking are some of the common causes of high sugar problem. An unhealthy lifestyle often causes other diseases too like blood pressure, heart problem, sleep disorders, stress, anxiety and the likes.



Obesity: Obese individuals are at a greater risk of being a victim of this condition. Typically, this disease is caused due to metabolic disorder. Unhealthy eating habits can have devastating effects in the long run.



Genetic factors: This condition is genetic in nature and can be passed from one generation to the other. If you have relatives, especially first degree then you are at a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.



Symptoms



• Feeling tired and fatigued: In this condition the body is not able to produce energy from glucose. This results in tiredness and exhaustion. You may fee extremely tired and fatigued with little physical activity.



• Excessive thirst: The high level of sugar in the blood, acts as a sponge and pulls all the fluid from tissues of your body. As a result, you may feel extremely thirsty. In fact, diabetes condition also pulls fluid away from the eyes, resulting in blurred vision.



• Frequent infections: Due to high level of sugar in the blood, it becomes difficult for the body to resist and fight infections. In fact, it cannot even heal wounds effectively.



• Unexplained weight loss: Weight loss is a common occurrence if you have sugar problem because your body uses other sources for energy. Since energy is not easily available due to high sugar level, your body uses other sources. It burns the muscle and fat stores.
